American announced the installation of Starlink on more than 500 narrowbody aircraft beginning in Q1 2027, updating the Wi-Fi offering on its fleet of more than 500 Airbus aircraft including new A321XLR and A321neo deliveries.
The announced scope is the A320 family only — A319s, A320s, A321s, A321neos, and A321XLRs — with no official plans to extend Starlink to any other American aircraft. American runs Viasat on most of its narrowbodies today and Panasonic on most of its widebodies; neither is part of the Starlink program as announced.
In January 2026 American began rolling out free inflight Wi-Fi for AAdvantage members, sponsored by AT&T and powered by Viasat and Intelsat: more than 900 mainline aircraft are equipped, covering 100% of its narrowbody and dual-class regional fleets.
