Southwest's first Starlink-equipped aircraft, N8543Z, carried passengers on June 22, 2026 (Dallas to Albuquerque) — the first of more than 300 aircraft Southwest aims to equip by the end of 2026. Southwest has over 800 aircraft in its fleet and says it eventually plans to bring Starlink to all of them, though no timeline has been given for the full rollout.
Southwest's first Starlink service was flown by a Boeing 737. Wi-Fi is free for Rapid Rewards members under Southwest's T-Mobile partnership ($8 per device per flight otherwise). Aircraft not yet retrofitted keep Southwest's older Wi-Fi providers, Viasat and Anuvu.
William Blair analysts reported that Viasat confirmed Southwest will not install Starlink on its Viasat-equipped aircraft: Starlink replaces the Anuvu system on older jets, while new 737 MAX deliveries continue to have Viasat's system line-fit.
